New Life To A Classic Space

Our pantry had become such an eyesore that we started thinking up some options that would be beneficial to the look and wear and tear of a pantry, without breaking the bank! Some of our initial thoughts were:

1. Contact paper

2. Tile

3. Granite slabs

4. Paint

With the contact paper the pros were that it would clean up easily. There are many styles to choose from, lots of colors and patterns. The downside was that if we ever wanted to change the paper that it would make it difficult to remove and leave a sticky residue.

The tiles we thought we could find a cheap tile that could be laid easily enough. Tiles would clean up very easily. Tiles would also bring some color to the pantry. After considering the number of shelves our pantry has, we decided that there were way too many grout lines! They can be hard to keep clean! And then the tiles would not fit perfectly and that means renting a tile cutter, or hiring someone to come in and do the work for us. More money that we were ready to spend on a pantry!

Next we thought about the granite slabs – no grout lines there! And many styles to choose from also, beautiful! Granite slabs are very heavy and would probably not be a very practical way to go. And the price on granite would not be cost effective either!

So we settled on paint! It did take 5 days to dry, but it is beautiful! The cost was reasonable and I feel like I have a whole new pantry! For those of you that know me, I like to change things up and the amount of effort this project took I could change it again when I got bored
