My years of experience in customer service, evaluating customers’ needs and expectations of providers’ products, in some ways is a curse when I look for a provider for my own personal needs. Call me nitpicky but now that I am retired I count my pennies and with today’s economy to get a good price for your needs with over the top Customer Service is rare.

I live in an HOA environment and it was time to paint. With flowers all around my house and roses that would have to be cut back could make it a little more difficult to set a date for the work. Because I am nitpicky and big on customer service my daughter, who was in for a visit, called four painting companies to interview. Phillips Painting was the second company that came to my house. After our meeting, I knew that they were the one and there was no need to look else where.

Ryan came to my home, my daughter, brother and sister-in law were there so he had an audience. Ryan invited everyone to join in, I was impressed but not sure he knew what he was getting into because they all had their on option of what I should do. Turns out he knew exactly what he was doing. The first thing he did was provide information about Phillips Painting, their vision and core values and their mission of customer driven quality. He provided locations of other homes in my community where Phillips Painting had painted homes and encouraged me to go by, look at their work and ask the residents about their painting experience. Ryan offered flexibility to accommodate my personal needs and did not encourage me to do unnecessary repairs, which was refreshing. If I called him, he answered or returned my calls in an uncommonly response time. Ryan is a young man with a real understanding that ones home is not just where you live or a financial investment, but an investment in your community where you can be proud to entertain family and friends.

Time to Paint

I was excited and my expectations were high. Juan arrived at my home right when they said he would. In today’s world you get between this time and that time, rarely a set time and even more rare when they show up ‘Johnny on the spot’. Juan was polite and considerate of my needs from the protection of my flowers to making sure my dog had access to the back yard when needed. His attention to details was impressive and asking for my input on what to cover or painted was over the top on the customer service scale. My interruption to his painting schedule with days I would not be there, guest coming over etc. was not treated as an inconvenience or an annoyance in completing the job. Juan, Laura and Ryan worked as a team to accommodate my needs. The daily cleanup, carpentry work, caulking, the final walkthrough to ensure completion and quality, well all I can only say  Juan put the capital ‘A’ on awesome on a job well done.

Until ones sees the final completion of your paint job, you can’t judge if your experience was a customer service and product ‘WOW’ experience or why did I go there experience.
